Role of Steering Group The Steering Group is made up of individuals representing a broad range of end users with a defined terms of reference to keep the project on track. Steering Group members at the first meeting (11 Feb 2004) Terms of reference The Steering Group will: Report to the Director of POL Receive an annual report from the Coastal Observatory group Conduct an annual review of the operations of the Coastal Observatory and report to the director of POL Provide advice and guidance to the Coastal Observatory Group concerning the relevance of the Coastal Observatory to public bodies, policy makers and the general public, and on longer term stategy Monitor the quality and relevance of the ouputs The Steering Group will meet twice per year. The annual review will coinside with one of the meetings to which an international expert will be invited. Meetings will consist of a half day of open science presentations and discussion followed by a quarter day governance Members will be appointed for a three year term which can be renewed once.
